Mean surface temperature of the Greater Bridgeport coast in Connecticut. Calculated from Landsat 8 TIRS and Landsat 9 TIRS-2 imagery from June to September for each year from 2013 to 2023. Dark red represents high land surface temperature and will inform the locations of cooling interventions for Groundwork Bridgeport’s Cool Corridors project. Yellow represents a more moderate land surface temperature, whereas dark and light blues represent high and moderate sea surface temperatures respectively.

S17 NDWI calculation within the Alaskan east Kobuk river generated from NASA Landsat 8 OLI imagery taken on March 9th, 2023. The NDWI values, displayed above in a purple palate – pink displaying ice and purple displaying flowing water – were used to determine the dates of freezing. The NDWI calculation is overlayed on Sentinel-2 MSI imagery from October 26, 2022.

MNDWI-processed imagery from Landsat 8 OLI. This composite image of Mud Lake Wildlife Management Area and Camas National Wildlife Refuge in Southeast Idaho was taken over April and May, 2018. Higher values, blue and dark green shades, indicate surface water. Lower values, red and orange shades, indicate bare ground or senesced vegetation. Yellow and light green indicate living vegetation, such as irrigated crops. Areas with high MNDWI values can help identify wetlands' surface water.

This NDVI maximum composite image of northwestern Alaska was created from a harmonized Landsat 8 OLI, Landsat 9 OLI-2, and Sentinel-2A/B cloudless image series from May to September 2023. The image has been processed to overlay a low to high: soft green-yellow-dark green-brown color scheme to display the varying vegetation in the region represented by different NDVI values. This image can assist in conservation decision-making by highlighting areas with high vegetation availability for caribou.

NDTI processed imagery of a portion of Narragansett Bay created with Landsat 8 OLI Tier 1 Level 2 imagery from June 25, 2024. The aqua shade in the Bay shows areas with low turbidity, which was low in the Upper Bay on that particular day. The land surrounding the Bay is processed in a false color composite to mimic a starry night sky.
