A magnitude 7.0 earthquake occurred north of Anchorage, Alaska on Friday, November 30, 2018. The earthquake caused extensive damage to buildings and roads and triggered a tsunami warning for coastal areas of Cook Inlet and the southern Kenai Peninsula. The earthquake struck at about 8:30 a.m. local time some 10 miles northeast of Anchorage, AK at a depth of 21 miles, according to the US Geological Survey. The tsunami warning was later canceled.
