Background
Christina is the program manager for Mission Engagement in the Applied Sciences Program. She links planning of NASA Missions to the Applied Sciences’ goal of putting Earth observations into the hands of decision-makers.
Christina brings her managerial and engineering skills to her leadership of the Mission Engagement team. She has been supporting NASA for more than 30 years. One previous position was the Deputy Director of the Earth System Science Pathfinder Program. There she managed competitively selected and principal investigator-led Earth science flight projects.
Christina also led the strategic partnerships and regional economic development initiatives at NASA Langley. She promoted greater awareness of NASA technologies and successful achievement of strategic partnerships. Christina consolidated the group’s administrative personnel to better strategically and effectively serve and support NASA Langley’s mission. This effort became a model for all other NASA centers.
Christina began her career at NASA as an engineer focused on developing Space Shuttle experiments. She then led NASA program management at NASA’s Independent Verification and Validation Facility (IV&V). She has a BS in Engineering Physics from West Virginia Wesleyan and an MBA from Regis University.
Christina is also an experienced hiker. She faced down gale force winds in the Scottish Highlands and trekked to Base Camp of Mount Everest. Raised on the U.S. West Coast, Christina spent years living in the mountains of West Virginia and now lives on the U.S. East Coast. Living across the United States, Christina has experienced noticeable changes in America’s weather over time, leading to her interest in our impact on Earth and how these changes will influence future generations.
