Description and Details:
The Land and Atmosphere Near real-time Capability for EOS (LANCE) was initiated by NASA Flight, Research and Applied Sciences Programs in 2009 to provide NASA data products in Near Real-time (NRT) to partners, stakeholders and users for decision making and operational applications. Most of LANCE NRT data products are available within 3 hours from satellite observation, and the latency meets the timely needs of applications users especially for disasters community. LANCE provides access to 87 NRT products from instruments inlcuding Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS), Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2 (AMSR2), Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) on the International Space Station (LIS ISS), Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR), Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS), Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), Measurement of Pollution in the Troposphere (MOPITT), Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI), Ozone Mapping Profiler Suite (OMPS) and Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS).
LANCE NRT data products enhance and complement NASA’s Disaster Mapping portal, providing maps and digital geographic information for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) activities before, during and after a disaster. New LANCE NRT data products coming out in 2019 include VIIRS Black Marble the Daily At-sensor Top of Atmosphere Nighttime Radiance product (VNP46A1), MODIS Flood Mapping product, and VIIRS Deep Blue Aerosol product (VAERDB). Other new approved LANCE NRT products include MODIS Multi-Angle Implementation of Atmospheric Correction (MAIAC) Land Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) (MCD19A2) product, MAIAC Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) Model Parameters (MCD19A3) product, and MODIS Volcano MODVOLC product.
